The New Space Revolution has reshaped remote sensing into a $20 billion global industry. Low-cost launches have unleashed a wave of next-generation satellites, surpassing once-exclusive synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. With the ability to see through darkness and weather, SAR provides Taiwan not only with vital scientific capability but also critical transparency amid rising geopolitical threats to Taiwan’s nascent democracy. This session explores real-world SAR applications and how Taiwan can leapfrog in the global space economy—not through components or imagery, but by unlocking the high-value services built on top of them.
