摘要 (abstract)
UCL was one of the first universities involved in space exploration, and since 1967 UCL-MSSL has played a key role in over 70 satellite missions. The laboratory currently has ~150 employees working on space science and technology, plus ~50 students. Currently, MSSL has research groups in solar system science (solar, space plasma and planetary science) and in astrophysics (including extrasolar planets). Some mission highlights include Giotto, Cassini-Huygens, Cluster, XMM-Newton, Hinode, Solar Orbiter, Euclid & JWST. Currently, MSSL are working on instrumentation for Rosalind Franklin (PanCam and Enfys), SMILE, Plato and Vigil. In this talk we will provide an introduction to MSSL and its work spanning space science and engineering.
