This presentation introduces Tensor Tech’s spacecraft motion control solutions designed to maximize the profitability and operational flexibility of satellite assets through efficient maneuvering and rapid orbit access. Founded in 2019 with its first flight heritage achieved in January 2022, Tensor Tech specializes in advanced Control Moment Gyroscope (CMG) technology and integrated Attitude Determination and Control Systems (ADCS) for nanosatellites and small satellites. The slides outline the company’s patented CMG systems, which enable high-torque, low-power attitude control, outperforming traditional reaction wheel systems in agility and responsiveness. A dimensional analysis illustrates how system design scales with satellite size, emphasizing the need for actuators with a higher torque-to-power ratio and angular momentum density. The presentation also highlights Tensor Tech’s scalable ADCS architecture, featuring fine sun sensors, magnetorquers, and onboard computers that support multiple autonomous modes such as sun pointing, earth pointing, and safe mode recovery. These innovations allow satellites to achieve faster maneuvers, reduced power and mass budget for ADCS, unlocking new economic value in both commercial and research missions.
