Utilizing a specialized continuous downstream unit operator, this research aims to optimize liquid-liquid phase separation in microgravity, a vital aspect of space chemistry. By integrating microfluidic technology with a helix wire-based biphasic separator, the studies address challenges in microgravity separations. The pivotal experiment conducted at the ZARM Drop Tower, focusing on the synthesis of acetylsalicylic acid as a representative chemical process, highlights the potential for advancing efficient chemical synthesis during extended space missions.
